Assignment 2 - Fictional Scenario
Prompt: Your friend's brother just bought an arcade. He filled it with retro video games and wants to attract a younger crowd. He asks you to help him get the word out, but he doesn't have much money or time to invest in a full-blown Web site. How do you help him?
Questions:-What are some of the easiest approaches to getting his presence on the Internet quick?
-Which approaches would be too large for this project?
-Given his target audience how would that influence your choice?
My friend's brother should start off small, and gradually grow into bigger things. Since time is of the essence, he should not create a blog. Blogging takes time to build, keep up, and attract people. He simply does not have the resource's at the moment for an informational project like blogging. Since we are in the ages of technology and electronic media, any video, or social networking site would be beneficial for younger audiences. I would recommend a YouTube video, broadcasting his arcade games, with vivid graphics that can be easily used to attract young visitors. With media being so readily available and easily accessible, young people would have no problem maneuvering to find it's content. This is the easiest way, to attract a younger audience to my friend's brother's arcade. If he was targeting another audience, perhaps a bit older, I would recommend a more promotional route, but given the audience media is the way to go.
I have attached a sample of Joe's Arcade's recommended Media Presence.

Assignment 1 - Fictional Scenario
Prompt: Your brother just bought a bar. He knows you are taking a college class on this kind of thing and he wants your help building a digital presence.
Questions:
-What should your brother consider before anything else and what factors would suggest going forward and what factors would make him decide not to build a presence?
-Go through the different types of presences and give examples of why your brother would want to use a particular type of presence.
Response:
Before proceeding my brother must consider is audience and is Return of Investment. If his Return of Investment isn't doable, then the whole deal is off. Also he has to consider his audience. He has to consider what type of people will be arriving at his bar. Will they have access to social media or are they more of a hands on, benevolent people? With the fast growth in technology, most businesses would benefit greatly from the use of some form of digital presence. A web site is a great way to showcase his bar. If his clientele is mostly seclusive, independent people, than a digital presence might not be as beneficial.
To get the most income and business for my brother's bar, he would need some form of digital presence to maximize his customers. The ultimate goal is to run a successful business.
One way could be a form of media. He could make a video showcasing his supply of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with appetizers and smiling faces to suede customers to come to his bar.
Another way is data gathering. A bar see's a lot of different types of people, and you go to a bar, to have fun or for some relief from life's anxieties. My brother should use this to his advantage, using online raffles, along with free specials and drinks, in exchange for signing up for the businesses email listing.
Lastly, one could simply benefit from information. Simple blogs and posts about the bar could help more simplistic customers.
These three ways are the ways my brother should use a digital presence to capitalize on his market the most. After deciding which presence or presences he should use, with Media and Data Gathering being the most effective, he is ready to start his business. But, only if he finds that the Return Of Investment is compliant with his standards..
